If you are concerned that your child may have dyslexia, there are some things to keep in mind and a lot of different signs to look out for. Some things to keep in mind is that dyslexia affects reading and writing and does not affect the intellectual capabilities of a person, although people with dyslexia often have other learning disabilities or mental health struggles as well. 

What to look out for:

    • Has a relative with dyslexia (or who struggled to learn)
    • Has trouble learning nursery rhymes and rhyming in general
    • Has trouble learning the letters in the alphabet
    • Mispronounces words
    • Has trouble sounding out words including simple ones
    • Has difficulty learning other languages 
    • Makes wild guesses for words when reading
    • Has trouble spelling words
